I recently took a trip to New York and visited the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art. In the gift shop they had a series of fantastic coloring books based on famous artists, including:
Much like the book Scribbles, these aren’t traditional coloring books. They ask for a bit more creativity. Students might add onto a drawing, answer an open ended question, or color in the style of the artist.
Here are a couple pictures from the Van Gogh version, featuring a Byrdseed favorite, Dr. Gachet!
You can see the whole series here at Amazon. The reviews are quite interesting. Apparently some people don’t appreciate the opportunity to add to the art!
