My young niece picked up an amazing coloring book, titled Scribbles. This book is filled with creative, divergent, and open-ended thinking tasks. It is honestly a coloring book for all ages.
Here are some examples:
Draw a crocodile balancing on this pole:
This penguin is very cold. Can you warm him up?
Oh no! It’s a wolf! Make sure he doesn’t eat the pigs!
Each task asks kids to create and think outside the box. Everyone in my family, from age 4 – 60, wanted to participate. The best part is, Scribbles is nearly 400 pages long! That’s a lot of creative tasks.
Scribbles is just one in a series of creative doodling books from Taro Gomi.
Heads up: From reading the Amazon reviews, earlier printings had a controversial page with a person in a coffin. This is no longer in the newer editions. If you pick up a copy, you might want to flip through and check for this page.
