One of my favorite parts of running Byrdseed is looking back at the end of each year and cataloging my travels, writing, and video making.
The Numbers
I’m always amazed how much passion and hunger there is for gifted education. This year:
- 400,000 visitors came to Byrdseed.com and read 950,000 articles.
- The Byrdseed newsletter passed 10,000 subscribers.
- I gave the Byrdseed Facebook page some TLC, and watched it grow to 2,400 likes.
Popular Articles
The five most viewed articles I wrote in 2014 were:
- Understanding High Energy Gifted Kids
- Creative Math Warmups
- High Anxiety
- Ambiguous Sentences
- Weekly Lists of Common Foreign Vocabulary
Presentations
I spoke at 23 events this year, traveling to 11 different states! For an introvert like myself, that’s a lot of chatting!
Events ranged from keynoting state conferences, to workshops at school districts, to parent nights. I even ran my own mini-event in Baltimore! Can’t wait to put another on in 2015.
If you’d like me to come to your event, please get in touch at ian@byrdseed.com. The 2015 schedule already has a dozen events confirmed!
Meeting People
Since leaving the classroom two years ago, I’ve felt very fortunate to get to do what I do. I especially love meeting teachers around the country and hearing about their needs and how Byrdseed helps their classes run more smoothly. It’s truly an honor, and it’s through your support that it’s all possible.
Please feel free to email me your number one needs for this year. I’d love to know how I can help you in 2015!
